A trivial file transfer protocol (TFTP) is used for automated transfer of configuration or boot files. TFTP is based on the connectionless UDP protocol, and depends on the application to error check data transfer, this is usually done with a CRC (cyclic redundancy check). TFTP is used to load system configuration information to devices, and is less processor intensive than TCP connections, although large data transfers are significantly slower, due to inefficient error checking which must occur within the application.
